I am fascinated by the phases of the Moon and how they energetically affect us. The Moon represents the feminine aspect, the nurturing and emotional side of ourselves. It is the Goddess energy, that of the Maiden, Mother and Crone.
To me it is a much softer energy than the masculine Sun energy associated with Ra, the Sun God.
We can learn how to work with the influence of the
Moon cycles to support ourselves
spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.
How to work with the lunar energies?
The benefits of gardening by the Moon have been known for thousands of years. Our ancestors knew that everything on Mother Earth depended on and is affected by the natural rhythms and cycles of our Moon. Just as the Moon influences the rise and fall of the tides, so it is that plants, having a high water content, are also influenced by the Moon phases. As we ourselves are made up of 70% water, the cycles of the Moon similarly affect us.
The NEW Moon marks the beginning of a new cycle of energy as the Moon waxes up until the Full Moon. It is a creative cycle to plant the seeds of intention to manifest into our life what we desire, to make a fresh start, a time of optimism, faith and hope.
The FULL Moon is the time to state that which we wish to release from our life as the Moon wanes down to the New Moon. It is a time for letting go, cleansing, releasing, making space and shedding old patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us.
NEW MOON RITUAL
We can all harness the power of the New Moon to manifest all of our dreams and desires, recharge our goals or set new ones. It is a time of renewal, beginning anew, planting seeds or starting new projects.
Make yourself a calming herbal tea. Light a candle, burn some incense or sage smudge. If you prefer not to use sage smoke, my energy clearing Sage Smudge Spray is a great alternative.
Put on some meditation music, relax, do a little meditation and clear your mind.
SET YOUR SACRED INTENTION:
On the day of the new moon, take a sheet of paper, date it, and then write the following:
I accept these things, or something better, into my life now for my highest good and the highest good of all concerned.
Then begin to write out a list of all your new intentional changes, the things you want to bring into, become or accept into your life. List it all and be specific. Nothing is too big or too small. Write things in the affirmative as if they have already happened. Such as: “I am”, or “I have”… not “I need” or “I want”…
As you are writing your list, take a moment to feel and connect to the emotions as if you have already received what it is that you desire. Fully accept it with all your heart as if it has already happened.
You can use a pen to write with, or to add more of your own energy you can use coloured pens, pencils, paint, crayons… get creative – the more of yourself you put into it the better your results are likely be.
When you have finished your list, you can either burn it and the smoke will carry your intentions out to the Universe… or you can bury it in the garden to allow it to “grow”.
Just as the Moon has its phases, so does your life and your desires. That is why it is a good idea to do this process each month to re-affirm what is important to you.
CRYSTALS TO WORK WITH:
Crystals are a gift from Mother Earth, for us to use as a tool to help us along on our Path. When we work with the energy of Crystals, it amplifies our intentions many times over. Therefore it is important to work through a ritual like this one above to get clear on what is important to us. Not only do you need to be aware of what you want, but most importantly, be very aware of your emotions about your desires. A Crystal does not think or interpret, it simply amplifies the energy behind your intention in a big way.
Imperial Topaz is a powerful manifesting crystal. It assists to activate confidence, clarity and self-love; and then empowers you with focus, order and understanding to manifest a pathway forward with clarity.
I hope you enjoy this ritual at the next New Moon. If you have your own way of honouring the Moon Cycles, please head on over to my Facebook page and post in the comments there.
